Helping you lead a pain-free life

OsteopathyFAQs

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a delightfully practical and straightforward system of healing designed to help bring relief to physical pains and problems. Based entirely on natural laws of healing and mechanics, it also recognises the strong psychosomatic elements that act on us and so represents a very holistic approach to health.

The function of any system within the body is governed by the ability of the structure to work as it was designed to, an osteopath with trained sensitivity is able to assess directly the structure and function of the body and encourage the body to work optimally and in a symptom free way again. At its simplest this may mean freeing the spine and attendant muscles with gentle manipulation and massage.

This same basic approach of structural and mechanical harmonisation, can he extended to help the proper functioning of organs, the nervous system and even the more subtle electro-magnetic and cranio-sacral function. The result can be a significant rise in the general level of health and vitality.

Assessment and treatment are normally very straightforward and immediate results can be felt from treatment. Other tests such as scans, x-rays or blood tests might be called on as required to help form a comprehensive diagnosis.
